Crowdsourcing for spammers

Aaaah… what wouldn’t we do for some cleavage? ;) I read an article on German news authority Heise recently on how spammers use p0rn to get new gmail-accounts (et al.). Every sign-up there is secured by a captcha, which makes the mass-setup of new email-addresses nearly impossible…. at least for machines… well at least for most of them.

So here is the trick: Crowdsource the process to horny men. It’s cheap and easy. Just show some random p0rn pic and ask kindly to solve a captcha to see the next. (Think trumpet horn here.) Clever suns of a gun… huh? :(

Scanning is the new shooting!

Actually, I am not a big fan of Radiohead, but I like their approach to new things. For their lastest video House of Cards (Googtube or high quality download) they substituted the big lights-camera-action-showcase for a bunch of engineers and 3D scanners. The outcome is pretty cool IMHO. Here is the very neat making of:

This may still look very… uhm… artsy. But it’s definitely a glimpse of the future!

Sooocial Gooogle?

Google seems to experiment with Web 2.0 patterns within their search results. Michael had an article over at Techcruch these days on this issue, plus this really cool video:

What can I say: Search engine meets Digg meets Del.icio.us meets Wiki. Looks a tiiiny little bit like Wikia Search to me. And somehow I really have trouble to believe that the big G will diminish the power of its omnipotent algorithm and ferocious pagerank. But time will tell… :)

Banner of the day

Very very very nice stirring an shaking by Burger King and Crispin Porter + Bogusky. Grab the Burger of Doom over at the Banner Blog and let the mayhem begin :)

Quote of the day

“The first 80% of success is showing up! The second 80% is sticking around and refusing to leave! The final 80% is finishing! See how simple what you cannot do is?” Tom Peters

Wanna be really viral?

Ever wondered what successful viral videos have in common? Mike Laurie sat down and examined 21 patterns of very viral videos on the GoogTube in his article:

  1. The Brand/Master Slave Bond
  2. Brandophilia
  3. Doomsday Branding
  4. Brand Halo Effect
  5. Super Hot Product Demo
  6. Hot Unobtainable Product Demo

Life can be simple sometimes ;)

Art? Or just… WTF?

You be the judge: www.frnz.de! If you manage to find the hyperlinks in the body without looking into the code, you’ll win an exclusive photoshoot with Waldi. Oh yeah…  there’s also music. So crank up them speakers ;)

That thong tho-thong thong!

(Think background music here!) Imagine you selling a juicy piece of lingerie. Great! Now think about your sales channels. Think about online. Think about… Amazon. Woohoo! So what do you do to not break the big A’s TOS? One word: FUBAR! :D

Alriiight, they also came up with another version. Booooooring! ;)

Kom in… end makke som nöise!

Ikea just released its new campaign “Kom in Garderoben” (Come into the Closet) in Sweden by Forsman & Bodenfors. Sweden? Yeah… so it’s in Swedish. But who cares if you get provided with a fully interactive closet, including weird folks dancing in it? I though so ;)

The fun part: you be the MC! If you don’t like the provided sound layer, upload some of your private reserve (bottom left), shout into the mic like HP Baxxter (provided you have one - bottom right), or just go berserk on your keyboard… and make the crowd mooooove.
