Banner of the Day

Well, or media buy of the day to be precise. This campaign won bronze at Cannes. I like the idea, even though I doubt that everyone will actually notice that something is missing…

Peolpe tend to be somewhat blind as far as ads are concerned. ;) But with a large enough media budget (which Mercedes definitely has), this is a good one!

… porque Paulo Bento fala comigo!

Very nice crossmedial campaign by DraftFCB and the Sporting Clube de Portugal, which made the Marketing Sharpa Viral Hall of Fame. The idea is simple, but nice:

I like the orchestrated use of video and direct marketing (phone) in this one a lot a lot a lot! Imagine you watch a movie where someone picks up a phone, dials… and suddenly your own phone starts ringing. This is so cool! 8)

This forehead can take some pain! ;)

Uhm… I don’t know who’s doing the artwork for Germanwings’ Top Offer campaign, but I’m gonna mail it to Eddie over at Photoshop Disasters. I’m positive he will appreciate it… ;)

You have the choice: loud or loud… or maybe loud?

Question: Why is it so hard to put a volume control into ads and/or microsites? Especially if you use music or voice over extensively, this would be a highly appreciated feature.

Example? There are lots and lots! Take the brand new Coke Olympics micosite for instance. Or the visually awesome Nokia N96 Limited Ed. campaign. No volume control… whereever.

And no, a mute button is not enough! And no, I dont want to change my desktop settings for each website I visit either. It’s called usability, duh! Ah BTW, every thiny Youtube sniplet has it… just think about it :)

Quote of the day

“If you’re not pissing people off, you’re not making a difference!” Tom Peters

I know: I had Tom here not too long ago… but he’s just great! :)

Banner of the Day… NOT!

So, this made the shortlist in Cannes 2008? Uhm… may i ask WHY? Because they faked a videoplayer that annoys me because I can’t drag the status bar as wished? Or because i can’t turn off the noise? Or because I have to wait forever to see something semi-useful (trying to avoid the word “creative” here) happen?

Hello Saatchi? This is NOT TV! At least they had the decency to add a start button instead of autoplaying that whole thing… ;)

See what Flash can do… as far as visual screen experience is concerned. I just love that kinda stuff: massive in-game video as a key visual + great placement (wallpaper + leaderboard) = nice execution by EA and Lequip!
