HOME - The Movie

This came up a couple of days ago, but still a nice approach: On June 5, photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand (Earth from above) and French producer powerhouse Luc Besson present HOME, a great documentary with breathtaking bird-view pictures from over 50 countries wordwide. Definitely worth a watch!!!

/// aaaaaaaargh! stupid wordpress doesn’t let me upload pictures….  *sniff* /// :(

Now here’s the wicked part: The movie was made available on DVD and Blu-Ray, in the cinemas, on TV, and even on Youtube (yeah… also in HD!) at the same time. Originally it was supposed to be up there until June 14. It’s still there, so give it a try. Enjoy! :)

Nice take on German newspaper “Die Welt” and it’s approach to tweeting… ;)

Youtube interactive video game!

This is so cool! I mean like really really cool. Canadian director Partick Boivin (check out his other stuff, too) misuses the annotations feature within Youtube to create an interactive video-version of Street Fighter!!!

You chose your fight moves by clicking on different options (A, B, X, Y) in the video screen, with each new sequence being a new video in a new window. Nuff said, check it out:

See, that’s a simple yet creative approach for the use of “new” media. Me likes a lot! And I bet that there will be some agency jumping on that idea for some sort of advertising campaign very soon ;)

Quote of the day

“So forget social, forget networks, forget mobile—it’s all about the end customer/user experience. Think like a real person. We don’t draw the line between them.In the end, out interactions with people, brands, and companies will either be either extraordinary, good, ok, terrible, offensive or not worth talking about at all. Social or no social. The line is dissolving and in the end it’s how we feel about what we just experienced that matters.David Armano

Quote of the day

“So maybe a recession is a good time to start a startup. It’s hard to say whether advantages like lack of competition outweigh disadvantages like reluctant investors. But it doesn’t matter much either way. It’s the people that matter. And for a given set of people working on a given technology, the time to act is always now.” Paul Graham

Quote of the day

“For all of Wikipedia’s flaws, the one thing people don’t say is, ‘Well, I don’t trust Wikipedia because it’s basically all advertising fluff.’ Forgoing ads is a way to buy credibility, just as a judge forgoing bribes is a way to buy credibility.”
Lawrence Lessig

“You think, what do I want the consumers to do,
and then you plan your campaign from there.”

“You think, what do consumers want to do,
and then you plan your campaign from there.”

Subtle difference in language.
Huge difference in thinking.

Aah… so Hiphop is about Boootey!

Fun statistics over at Fleshmap: Imagine you sit down and count how often bodyparts are mentioned in songs of different genres… well, they did exactly that. And - by surprise - Hiphop seems to be most explicit:

And yes… there is more “useful” stuff. Like this look study of the female chest. If you ever wanted to sort breasts by areolae, the may be the place to be! ;)

How Jerry Met The Walrus

Me likes alot! Cool grassroots interview, even better screen animation :) In 1969 (nope… I wasn’t born at that time), the then 14-yo Jerry Levitan sneaked into John Lennon’s hotel room with a tape recorder at hand. The result was a really cool and raw live-on-tape interview. Now, add screen effects and 40 years:

I know: I had Tom here not too long ago… but he’s just great! :)
